Nathanaell Nicholas was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge and was ordained deacon on 24th September 1637 by John Davenant the Bishop of Salisbury and appointed curate of Sutton. He was ordained priest on Christmas eve 1637 again by the Bishop of Salisbury.
At the time Sutton was in the Diocese of Winchester.
