Hatch, of the manor Sutton, co. Surrey.
The Rev. Thomas Hatch, Vicar of Walton on Thames, Lord of the Manor of Sutton, and a Magistrate for co. Surrey, eldest son and heir of the late Thomas Hatch, Esq., by Margaretta Eleanor, his wife, dau. and sol heir of Hnery Cliffe, Esq., of Sutton, and of Stoke, near Guildfor, and grandson of the Rev. Giles Hatch, Rector of Sutton, quarters the arms of CLIFFE in right of his mother.
The ancestors of this family were seated at an early period at Salterleigh, co. Devon, and at Busvisack in Cornwall, and the name is found in the Visitation of the latter county in 1660.
Arms. - Quarterly. First and fourth, gu, two demi lions passant guardant, couped, in pale or, for HATCH. Second arg. on a fesse between three wolves' heads erased sa. as many mullets or, for CLIFFE. Third, arg. on a bend. cottised sa. three mullets of the first. Fourth, az. fretty arg. within a bordure engr. or.
Crest. - A demi lion rampant, or, between the paws a sphere, a cross pattee fitchee stuck therein.
