Dr George Rice was an eminent Victorian medical pioneer in Sutton during the later 19th and early 20th centuries. Dr Rice had been born in New York State before coming to Europe to study as a doctor. He died in 1935.
There is now a move to create a Community Garden in his memory next door to the churchyard on Gibson Road.
