Saturday 7 September 2024. We will meet at 10 am at St Nicholas Church. It will be an easy walk with plenty of stops and will finish at the cafe on Sutton Green for lunch/refreshments.
We will be exploring Sutton's watery past (or lack of it). It's all downhill and not far at all. We will consider why St Nicholas Church is where it is, the missing and hidden water courses (Bourne, Blackwater and Divers Ditch) the problems of flushing toilets and why we had a steam mill but not a watermill like Carshalton and we will end at the Green and Victoria Gardens to wonder what ever happened to the pond.
Donations accepted in aid of Away From It All (AFIA) is a Mothers' Union holiday scheme, to give the opportunity of a break to those who may be experiencing stress or difficulties in their family life.
