The following burials are recorded in the parish registers
04 Feb 1685 Mr George Roberts, Rector of Sutton.
His tomb in the old Church was within the rails of the communion table.
Quoting Peter Likeman:
"George Roberts gravestone was in the old church but is now in the church yard next to the church wall under the windows on the north side. It was until recently protected by a yew tree and is in very good condition and the inscription in latin telling what a good fellow he was is still quite readable. I think I have the translation somewhere."
