Alley Way Mural project to start in spring 2024

We're thrilled to share an update regarding the alleyway connecting Robin Hood Lane to St Nicholas Churchyard, designated as a public right of way (PROW15) and maintained by Sutton Council.

The current mural in the alleyway is showing signs of ageing, aligning with the Churchyard Plan's aspirations to revitalize this space. In a previous announcement, we mentioned that Team Imagineers, a Community Arts Charity known for creating the COVID memorial panels in the Dr George Rice Community Garden, has received approval from the council to renew the mural. As a Registered Charity, Team Imagineers has submitted funding applications and has successfully secured grants from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme and Sutton Council.

This is fantastic news, and we're excited to collaborate with such a talented group of artists. The renewed mural project is set to commence in May, and we anticipate engaging our membership, the St Nicholas congregation, and various community groups in this significant initiative to enhance the churchyard environment.

To keep our volunteers and contacts informed, we've requested Team Imagineers to create a project leaflet. We aim to share this information with our network, including local schools, colleges, uniformed youth groups, etc. Sutton College and Orchard Hill are already on board, and we anticipate Carshalton College joining us soon in supporting this endeavour.
