The Queen is coming to St Nicholas

The Friends of St Nicholas Churchyard is delighted to announce their new exhibition about the work of local artist Dennis Huntley.

The exhibition at St Nicholas church will run from 11th June to 20th June 2024.  It will be open daily between noon and 2 pm, then 4 pm to 6 pm.

Dennis Huntley (1928 - 2021) was a British sculptor, furniture designer and author. A Fellow of the Royal British Society of Sculptors completed works for cathedrals, individual collectors and other organisations. Among his most notable works are his sculptures for Guildford Cathedral.

Dennis was a former tutor at Sutton College and this exhibition features his Oscar Beit-winning statue of Anne Boleyn and his impressive nave altar designed for St Nicholas.

The Friends of St Nicholas Churchyard thank Sutton Housing Partnership for the loan of the statue of Anne Boleyn. This is the first opportunity for members of the public to view "Annie" since her restoration. Preparations are being made for her return to Carshalton.

We thank Premier Relocations for enabling the display of the statue of Anne Boleyn within St Nicholas Church.
